Agriculture as a Landscape Laboratory

One of the central pillars of the Aranea group's practice is its close relationship with agriculture, developing different lines of work that seek to enhance its role as a generator of landscape and well-being through sustainable production strategies. For over twenty years, they have conducted direct research in agricultural landscape units, developed urban agriculture models, and tested the application of regenerative agriculture principles to the urban environment .

These lines of research, supported by the University of Alicante and the College of Architects of the Valencian Community, have led to the development of specific methodologies for intervention in rural environments. Terms such as "Terracing" were coined, which sought to focus attention on the heritage, environmental, and landscape value of traditional agricultural terraces.

Another of Aranea's projects that connect architecture and landscaping with the rural and agricultural environment, focusing on landscape management, rural development and the creation of territorial identity, was the Guide to Heritage and Landscape of the Alicante Mountains.

This sensitive approach to the agricultural sector has also materialized in the development of facilities such as wineries, agricultural markets, greenhouses or rural accommodations.
