An architecture studio in Alicante that designs from the landscape
At Grupo Aranea, we understand architecture as a way of relating to the landscape and the land. We are an architecture studio in Alicante that works by deeply listening to the land: its landscapes, its memories, its Mediterranean rhythms. Each project is born from the dialogue between nature, city, and heritage; a process where architecture, landscape design, and art intertwine to create places that nurture, regenerate, and give identity.
Architecture that originates from the site
Our work seeks to blur boundaries : between architecture and landscape, between interior and exterior, between the human and the natural. We design spaces that respond to what a place already is, and to what it can become, through materials, light, water, vegetation, and memory.
We believe in architecture that integrates, that accompanies, that improves life. Architecture that breathes the Mediterranean.

Architecture and landscape at all scales
Our work seeks to blur boundaries : between architecture and landscape, between interior and exterior, between the human and the natural. We design spaces that respond to what a place already is, and to what it can become, through materials, light, water, vegetation, and memory.
We believe in architecture that integrates, that accompanies, that improves life. Architecture that breathes the Mediterranean.

Architecture and housing
Houses that become protected universes , collective housing that rethinks coexistence, carefully designed spaces where light and materials activate well-being. New construction, extensions, restorations, renovations…always in dialogue with the place and the life that inhabits it.

Landscape and public space
Parks, plazas, gardens, and streets designed as ecosystems that balance climate, biodiversity, and social life . Solutions based on nature, sustainability, heritage, and urban rewilding.

Urban planning and
planning
Planes verdes, estrategias territoriales y visiones de futuro que proponen ciudades más justas, habitables e inclusivas. Utopías realistas que trazan la hoja de ruta para transformar el territorio.

Productive architecture and infrastructure
Wineries, factories, workshops, and facilities where productive spaces are born from a dialogue with the land. Spaces designed to work better, breathe better, and create better.
Our areas of interest
Throughout our journey, a series of lines of work and research have accompanied us, all interwoven with landscape, architecture, ecology, materials, and everyday life. These are different ways of relating to the land and activating new ways of inhabiting it.
Caring — Landscapes of health and well-being.
Cultivate — Agriculture, territory and terraces.
Edible — Gastronomic landscapes.
The city — Possible utopias and new urban natures.
Renaturalize — Recovery of damaged places.
Meeting space — Public space.
Living together — Collective and cooperative housing.
House — Intimate universes and inhabited gardens.
Furniture and detail — Small-scale design.
Heritage — Memory and identity of places.
Cultural catalysts — Facilities that transform the city.
Production spaces — Landscapes of creation.
Earth — Materials, prototypes and experimentation.
Social activators — Community and participation.

Let's imagine together the place you want to live in

A look at the territory from different disciplines
At Aranea, we work from a combination of perspectives: architecture, agronomy, landscape, sociology, biology, art, and engineering. This diversity allows us to interpret each place comprehensively, understand its rhythms, and recognize its vulnerabilities.
The studio, founded in 1998 by Marta García Chico and Francisco Leiva Ivorra, has grown as a team that thinks and designs collectively. Each discipline contributes a way of interpreting the territory, and together they blur the boundaries between architecture, landscape, and art.
Three lines that guide each project

Landscape
Understanding the place , its structure , its light , its history .
Observe before intervening. Interpret before designing.

Ecology
Restore what is fragile, regenerate what is degraded, activate new balances.
Let nature take center stage again.

Sociedad
Creating spaces to live together: to care for each other, to meet, to learn, to celebrate.
Architecture as an infrastructure for well-being .
Nearly three decades of research and recognition
Since 1998, we have been exploring new ways of inhabiting the Mediterranean. Our work has been recognized in national and international competitions and published in specialized media for its ability to transform the landscape through sensitivity and innovation.

For us, designing is about building experiences:
spaces that envelop, that awaken the senses,
that repair and generate well-being.

Let's start outlining the project
A starting point, a look at the territory, and a shared dialogue.
That's what we need to get started.
